Thoma-Holec Design earned its Merit honors for HarborChase of The Park Cities and LivGenerations Ahwatukee, which were honored for Best Service Enriched Senior Community/AL/Memory Care at PCBC®, the nation’s largest regional conference and trade show for the real estate development field.
Located in Dallas, TX, HarborChase at The Park Cities is an assisted living and memory care community known as “The Ritz” of senior living for its innovative atmosphere defined by luxurious amenities. The Dining Room at MorningStar at Fountain Hills, Fountain Hills, AZ
The mixture of custom casework and tactile fabrics lend an air of luxury to every dining experience, not typical in a single family dwelling. We moved away from linen service to highlight the warmth and craftsmanship of the walnut tabletops and furniture pieces.
In the spirit of service-oriented living, Thoma-Holec Design, LLC designed the kitchen around an open concept. Boutique hotels and restaurants are inviting the guest into the kitchen and this community is no exception.
Having chef and resident interaction builds a strong community. Compliments, discussions, suggestions and dietary concerns can readily be addressed. Nutrition based educational programs can easily be developed and held within the health department approved cooking areas. The kitchen is typically at the center of every home and MorningStar of Fountain Hills is no exception.

The annual awards program, held during the International Builders’ Show in Orlando, honored excellence and innovation in the design, development, lifestyle and marketing of housing that appeals to the mature market.
“Renaissance Luxury Living at Sun Lakes brings elegant, active senior living with a continuum of care,” said Karen Schroeder, the awards chair and vice president of Mayberry Homes LLC in Lansing, Michigan.
“In this project, our winner has beautifully combined the feel of an upscale desert resort with the comforts and security that enhance seniors’ ability to enjoy life to the fullest,” said Karen Schroeder.
Located in Sun Lakes, Arizona, 24 miles from Phoenix, the community has 106 resident units and offers the full continuum of senior lifestyle options; from independent living apartments to assisted living and memory care. The development was so popular that there was a wait list before construction was complete. It’s on target to be 90% occupied within six months of opening.
